Aflac's Supplemental plans (Accident, Short-Term Disability, Cancer, and more) pay cash benefits directly to the insured, rather than to the hospitals and doctors. Cash benefits can be used to cover out-of-pocket medical expenses (i.e. coinsurance, deductibles, etc), to supplement lost wages, due to medically-related missed days of work, or for any other purpose for which the insured desires to spend the funds.
